The light arrives before the food does — soft and dappled through large windows, catching honeyed wood and fresh wildflowers, the aroma of bread already in the air. But then the Croque Madame arrives, and the morning becomes something else entirely. Beautiful sourdough toast, a sunny-side up egg, Gruyère, Sauce Mornay, prosciutto — a technically demanding dish that most breakfast spots wouldn't attempt, executed here with quiet mastery and made to look effortless. It is the only place in Reno where you can have something this elegant for breakfast. The Turkish eggs — sunny side up over yogurt with chickpeas and chili oil — run a close second. The lemon ricotta pancakes are the move if you're leaning sweet. And yes, they do avocado toast — with chili crunch and extra virgin olive oil, finished with a soft-boiled egg. I know. Overdone, overthought, blasé to some. This one is none of those things.
Which brings you back to the pastry case. Buttery, layered croissants. Griddled banana bread with crispy edges. Miso peanut butter cookies. Perfect Cinnamon rolls. The kind of viennoiserie that could hold its own anywhere. This is the flagship — everything baked here feeds two locations, a catering operation, and Claio, the couple's Mediterranean restaurant across town. A small grocery market next door completes it.
